I will always link the taste of blueberry pie with the sound of Johnny Cash. This is a memory of long car trips punctuated by stops at roadside blueberry stands up hwy 7. It is the sound of tires on asphalt and the swish of windshield wipers keeping time to sleepy steel guitar, Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, or sometimes Buddy Holly and His Crickets, but most of all The Man in Black and June Carter keeping us company on the long stretches, Canadian Shield slipping by the window and the promise of homemade pie at journey’s end.
